Falls Prevention Clinic
Services for Seniors
Provided by Vancouver Coastal Health
- aged 65 or over,
 - community-dwelling (including assisted living facilities),
 - have had at least one fall in the previous 12 months,
 - patients who have sustained a fall-related fracture will be prioritized
 - have not been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or dementia,
 - do not have any progressive neurological conditions (e.g. Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, etc.),
 - able to walk at least 10 meters (with or without assistive device)
 
Fall prevention teams will offer services in a clinic or at home. Services can include the following:
- Education and resources for active seniors and their families, community groups, and groups working with/for seniors;
 - identifying fall hazards in the home;
 - strength & balance assessments;
 - recommendations for ways to reduce the risk of falls; and
 - referrals to other health professionals or community services.
 
Wait times are at least 6 months.
